The Phyllis Clarke Memorial Lecture is held annually to honour the memory of Phyllis Clarke, a member of the Ryerson University faculty from 1977 until her death in 1988.

The 2014 lecture is presented by Costas Lapavitsas: The Systemic Crisis of Financialization:

Costas Lapavitsas teaches economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has done research in the political economy of money and finance, the Japanese economy, the history of economic thought, economic history, and the contemporary world economy. He has published widely in the academic field, and also writes frequently for the international and Greek press. His most recent books are Profiting Without Producing, Crisis in the Eurozone, and Financialization in Crisis.
