Dear members, Below is a compilation of requests for information sent to the Global Human Rights Education listserv during the past week. At the bottom of each request you will find an e-mail address, so that you can respond to the request directly.
1. LOOKING FOR INFORMATION & TRAINING MATERIALS ON HRE (Human Rights Education) FOR POLICE:
Dear colleagues, I am a lawyer, and I teach “Human Rights and Police Function” at the “Juan Vucetich” Police School in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I belong to a team that is interested in sharing experiences about teaching human rights to police forces and are also searching for training materials and resources. To contact us, please write to: Maria Erriest, Calle 408 Nº 3215 (1894) VILLA ELISA, PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA, e-mail.
2. SEEKING FOR FUNDING TO ATTEND CONFERENCE IN MADRID:
I am looking for funding to attend the International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation (ICERI 2008), 17 – 19 November, 2008 in Madrid, Spain.
It is critical that I attend this conference in order to freely network with colleagues around the world, to learn from their experiences. To that end, I submitted an individual paper entitled “Combating Extreme and Terrorism in the Muslim World through Human Rights Education”, which was accepted for presentation in the individual paper session at the ICERI 2008.
Attendance at this conference provides the opportunity to increase international exposure on the issues surrounding the lack of human rights education in school curricula and policymakers’ reluctance to adopt/adapt the liberal approaches of curricula. By networking and brainstorming with others at ICERI, I plan to bring tools back to my organization (AGHE), partner organizations, and Pakistani educational institutions that address the educational, social and economic challenges we face.
Can anyone help me or guide me to an organization/philanthropist group that could help bear my expenditures for this Conference? I must raise 2709€ to cover conference registration, travel, lodging, food and minimal expenditures. Best Regards, Ijaz Hussain, AGHE Pakistan, e-mail.

5. LOOKING FOR RESEARCH ABOUT HRE IN SOUTHERN AFRICA (PARTICULARLY ZIMBABWE):
Dear All, Can someone please tell me if there have been any papers written on human rights education in Southern Africa (Zimbabwe)? Through my newly formed movement, Humanrights4life, I am advocating for the introduction of human rights as a subject, both in elementary and secondary schools. Can someone share with me whether this is a good idea? From my own experience, I strongly believe that human rights education might help shape the future of Zimbabwe’s leadership. I look forward to hearing more from you all. Tich Shumba, e-mail.
